OUR PEOPLE

Daniel J Irwin, CPA
Principal

The complex nature of the tax laws keeps the work challenging but my favorite part of the work is the interesting people I get to know. Everyone is a story... and I love the stories!

A native of Fresno, Daniel served in the Navy after high school and returned to complete a Bachelor of Science degree from CSU Fresno in 1975.

In 1979, Daniel joined with Steven Jackson to form a CPA firm that focused on serving small businesses and their owners.  Over time the focus of Daniel’s practice became medical and dental practices and the physicians and dentists who own them.

Daniel is married to his wife of 40+ years, has 2 grown children, and when time allows he enjoys sailing and sail boat racing.

Steven L Jackson, CPA
Principal

Like Hannibal Hayes from the “A” team, I love it when a plan comes together. I get a great deal of satisfaction when I work through a year end planning with a customer to accomplish a particular outcome, and it turns out the way we planned.”

Steven is a native of Fresno and graduated from Fresno High School.  He joined the United State Air Force and served during the Vietnam Conflict.  After honorable discharge from the Air Force, he completed his education graduating summa cum laude from California State University, Fresno, in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

He began his accounting career with a growing and dynamic local CPA firm.  He gained experience in accounting, auditing and taxation and received his license as a Certified Public Accountant.  After a couple of years, an opportunity presented itself to work in a controller position with a local agricultural company.  After a few years in private industry, Steven missed public accounting and felt he wasn’t growing professionally.

In 1979 Steven joined with Daniel Irwin to form a new local CPA firm that has become Irwin, Jackson & Wang.

Over the years Steven has gained industry experience in farming, medical professional, construction and property development and maintenance.

Steven is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public accountants and the Fresno Estate Planning Council.  He is also a lifetime member in the National Rifle Association.

He is married and has twin boys, who are now young men with their own careers. His personal interests include travel, exercise and the shooting sports.

Phaythoune D. Thounsouk
Administrative assistant

I like that we have systemized most of the every day tasks.   Everything we do here has a defined process which allows us to track, review and check off what was done from start to finish.

But what I like best is greeting and meeting customers as they come through the door or call.   It is a joy to see their surprise at being greeted by name…especially the people who don’t come in often.”

Phaythoune graduated from Fresno High school in 1998 having completed the schools’ Marketing Academy.  After high school she attended Fresno City College and worked full time in retail.

Phaythoune joined the firm in 2000 as a payroll specialist and is currently the firms administrative assistant and Notary Public.

When not working, Phaythoune enjoys time with family and friends.
